Smart TV setup: identify the system before choosing a player

“Smart TV” describes a category, not one operating system. Before ordering or installing a player, open your television's settings and note the manufacturer, model, system and software version. Include any external streaming box or stick: that device may be running the apps even when the television uses a different system.

Separate the television from the playback device

If a stick is connected by HDMI, identify the stick's system as well as the television. The screen's brand alone cannot establish app compatibility. Confirm a suitable player before paying for it

Use matching account fields

If a login fails, send support the model, player name and exact error message, with any credentials concealed. Reinstalling several players at random makes it harder to isolate the problem.
